Snow at dawn
Tokyo woke up today to snow on the ground and I went for a while to take some photos to the Meiji Jingu temple. It’s a pity that when I arrived the snow at the inner part of the temple had been almost completely cleared out. However I have been able to take some nice pictures and a couple of videos of the monks and temple workers removing the snow using shovels and hoses.
I think I changed something unknowingly on the camera and that is why the colors on the videos are a little bit weird.

I like the contrast between the sunlight filtering down through snow capped trees,, and then the monks in white shooting streams of water rising up to the roofs.
The world looks b&w in the video, until you see a green tree. Actually it might be that mode that highlights one colour?

But please note that there are no “monks” or “temple workers” at a Shinto shrine. The term monks usually refer to Buddhism. When speaking of Shinto, the term “shrine workers” would be better. Some of them also looks more like volunteers, rather than actually belonging to the shrine. Shrine maidens and Shrine priests are other terms that may be better for the people in these images.

I’m currently scrounging to save for a decent SLR. Looking at such lovely pictures makes me want to rob a bank for the monies. Your pictures are just lovely.
