Useless doors

This is my collection of “useless doors”, there are tons of them in Japanese cities. Japanese is a relatively secure country but people usually install advanced security systems (Alarms, cameras and stuff like that), but it seems that they don’t really care too much about the security level of their garden door.

For example, look at this door with a SECOM sticker. SECOM is a security solutions company, specialized in installing alarm systems.

This house has an alarm and the door looks pretty protective but… if we zoom out(See next picture), we found out that it is a useless door, we can go inside evading the door from the right side!

This is one of those posts that makes you think “damn, I didn’t even realize that, but it’s so true.” I have relatives with gates like these…

Since the Japanese are so polite and generally seem to follow the rules I can see a potential robber saying “darn… I’d break into this yard but there seems to be a door in the way”. Great post and I love the pictures.

Weird, half of these pictures are simple doors or gates that aren’t closed. What’s the problem with them?

The rest, though, makes one really wonder.

That’s actually to lure crooks, the real security system is the plants that come to life and eat you. Nice shoes by the way.

Awesome post, and very weird at that. Maybe passing through the gate when they go to their house gives them that sense of security?

Yeah, I have seen a lot of those useless gates in Japan. Japanese also like to have those accordion type gates across their driveway entrance.

Somehow, I think they make nice decorations.

The real security comes from the ninja hiding in the shadows obviously.

where space is at a premium in Tokyo, I’m guessing gates symbolize public vs private boundaries and to mark your property.

LOL!!!!!!
Never thought they had doors like that in Japan…
So weird…why put a door if the other side is unprotected…
Some doors aren’t even closed, some are tied with string and some doesn’t fit with the space of the door…just wow…
