Tokyo Sky Tree
Tokyo Sky Tree is a tower that when finished in 2012 will be the second tallest artificial structure in the world after the Burj Dubai. It has barely surpassed half of its planned final height of 634 meters but it is already the highest structure in Japan, surpassing the Tokyo Tower. These are some photos that I took last week from Asakusa that show the current state of the construction.

I wonder how they’re going to get those cranes down from the top of the building when it’s done?

Possibly the tower wasn’t built out of pure fascination with height. I mean, in crowded Tokyo,it’s more practical to build vertically. Although, earthquakes are bad for tall buildings, they put in shock absorber-type things to lessen the damage from the vibrations.
So, all in all, cool building and awesome pictures!

I like the old Tokyo Tower, it is such a wonderful landmark. The tower is the same even though its surroundings have changed so much

I remember the swaying of the Tokyo Tower, and that wasn’t during any of the many small eath movements there. I wonder how mucht this one will move at the top.
